At the end of the nineteenth century, the peninsula began to attract wealthy English, Russian, and Belgian families who would make it a popular vacation destination. In the 1950s, summer tourism increased, and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat became a stylish seaside destination that attracted politicians and celebrities from around the globe. Several great painters stayed there, including Matisse. This rich heritage is brought to life by the construction of villas, magnificent dwellings separated from one another and dispersed among the gorgeous Alpes-Maritimes vegetation.
Fair Range
Passage Beach, which faces west, provides views of Cap de Nice and Villefranche sur Mer Bay. This ensures that the day will be bright and sunny. A portion of the land has a private beach where stand-up paddleboards are available for rental. There are a large number of families with children at Passable Beach, and the children spend their time jumping into the water from the pontoon (yes, it smells of experience). This is not the location to visit if you’re looking for peace and quiet (or during the week outside school holidays).
Maurice Rouvier walk to Beaulieu sur Mer
From the small community of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, a lovely, flat path is accessible to strollers and individuals with limited mobility. Beaulieu sur Mer can be found in this region. The starting point is on Av. Denis Semeria at the level of the Town Hall. The path crosses Port Beach before continuing along the peninsula’s east coast toward the north and the seaside resort of Beaulieu sur Mer. There are numerous beautiful swimming coves beyond the shore. In the winter, we encountered sea urchin fishermen there. Beaulieu’s Fourmis beach can be reached in 25 minutes.
Visit Beaulieu-Sur-Mer
A little beach village neighboring Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is Beaulieu sur Mer. By strolling along the Maurice Rouvier Promenade, you can also easily reach your destination (see above). The beach at Baie des Fourmis, the casino, the Belle Époque-style retonde, and the mansion Kérylos are among the attractions in Beaulieu sur Mer, which is not a popular tourist destination along the Côte d’Azur.
Villa Kerylos
The Villa Kérylos, a mansion built between 1902 and 1908 in the style of ancient Greece, is the most popular tourist attraction in Beaulieu sur Mer. The interior is designed lavishly to resemble the opulence of a Greek villa. This is one of the activities available in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat. The Villa Kérylos is a fifty-minute walk away from the Maurice Rouvier Promenade. Alternately, you can drive to Beaulieu and try to find parking near the casino. See the website for more information about events at Villa Kérylos and other villas for rent in the area.
Sunset Cruise
Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat can be viewed from a different perspective on a 1.5-hour sunset cruise departing from Nice. The Boat will circumnavigate the cape to Beaulieu sur Mer before setting sail in the direction of the peninsula. Swim directly from the boat which you can rent, try snorkeling (bring your gear), or simply enjoy the scenery of the coastline.
